Hervé produces his own creative work in limited editions, once signed off with French craft-houses, as well as marble pieces produced in Italy. These latter creations, architectural, even brutal, in design, are more radical in their conception – the work is guided by the presentation of the precious substance in its full weight and heft, but always accompanied by great attention to the finest details. His work resonates with ongoing references to the great names of architecture and sculpture of the last century, who are a permanent inspiration for his work; Brancusi is in evidence, Eduardo Chillida as is Carlos Scarpa, Jose Luis Sert and Alvar Alto, to name but a few.
Architecture is never far away from his preoccupations, sculpture lies close to his heart. Hervé Langlais’ creations thus stand at the crossroads of these disciplines.
