Chairs have been used since antiquity, although for many centuries it was a symbolic article of state and dignity rather than an article for ordinary use. The design of the Parabole Chair refers to this original function of a “throne”.
The name of the chair refers to the distinctive detail of the back rest. By hollowing out the wood, a juxtaposition is created between the solidity of the material and the negative, empty space of the curvature. For ÆTHER/MASS, collaboration multiplies what is possible by getting access to the skills that have been mastered by others. For the making of this object, we worked closely together with CasimirAteliers, master woodworkers specialised in high-end solid wooden furniture.
