Designed by Jan Ernst
Table Mountain forms a backdrop for Cape Town and is one of SouthAfrica's most iconic natural landmarks. In 2020 a devastating fire raged over the nature reserve and destroyed a large portion of the fauna and fora. Walking along the footpaths months later, the evidence of the fire was stil present. The smell of smoke lingered, and proteas, wild grass and seeds were all covered in black soot.
The aim of the side table pay homage to the wildlife that suffered in the fire, but to act as a reminder that after destruction, there is also rebirth and opportunity.
Material: The side table has a ceramic top that can be removed. It sits on a series of chared wooden legs that have been sealed and varnished.
