Lionel Jadot

Lionel Jadot (°1969), born and based in Brussels, is an interior architect, artist, designer, filmmaker, and adventurer, often all at once.

His work merges disciplines with an alchemical touch, transforming discarded materials into extraordinary creations. “I don’t throw anything, I pick up. I don’t have a green thumb, I try cuttings, unnatural marriages.” Jadot combines past and future, seamlessly weaving wood into metal, mineral into vegetal, and old into new. He builds organic, energy-generating forms that bridge eras and challenge the norm.

His work is a dialogue between time and space, blending retro futurism, gothic comics, and the cinematic worlds of Moebius, Jodorowski, and Blade Runner.Every project is a fusion of history, innovation, and inspiration. Whether reimagining architecture or creating mutant objects, Jadot’s creations invite you into a universe of subtle, quirky worlds bordering on reality.

My work confronts two observations, that of our current world kneaded by mass consumption and that which does not care about the rules and wants to change things. The Anthropocene is a new geological epoch characterized by the advent of humans as the main force of change on Earth, surpassing geophysical forces. This is the age of humans! That of an unprecedented planetary disorder.

Since 2016 scientists have clearly defined that man is entering this new period and that he is the one who really influences the evolution of our planet and not the other way around. In short, we really messed up, but let’s stay positive, this era is also one of change.

Through Zaventem Ateliers and his design philosophy, he crafts spaces and objects that grow, adapt, and evolve, always striving to transform the ordinary into something extra ordinary.

"We must reinvent the concepts on which leaders rely: what does territory, borders or sovereignty mean in the age of the Anthropocene? It’s a whole Earth to be invented. I collect items, scraps, waste, found, bought, received, all used for 30 years, I catalog them in my workshop, I list them, I put them away.  Build my vision of a world where whatever we need cannot be bought, it is around us and then we build it, we assemble it, without rules, without diktats, without fashion, a certain idea of simplicity, honesty and above all freedom."

OBJECTS WITH NARRATIVES

On the first floor of Objects With Narratives, I’ve created a space that doesn’t follow rules, because rules are part of the problem. This isn’t a show. It’s a confrontation. A physical manifesto. A response to the Anthropocene, this strange, unstable age where we, humans, have become the planet’s main disruptors.

Everything in this space has lived before. Found, gifted, bought, salvaged, forgotten. Nothing is neutral. Nothing is new. Every piece carries a memory, a wound, a presence.

For over 30 years, I’ve collected fragments of a world in decay, not to mourn it, but to reimagine what comes next. I don’t design with trends. I don’t follow systems. I build with instinct, from what’s around me. No rules, no apologies.

This is my rebellion against mass consumption. A call to awaken. An invitation to see differently.

Come witness it.
Come question everything.
