Out Of The Fire
Out of the Fire is a captivating design exhibition by Portugal-based artist Mircea Anghel, renowned for his commitment to honest and natural processes. This show explores the transformative power of fire, featuring wooden design pieces and sculptures that have been burned to reveal their raw, elemental beauty. Through this process, Anghel emphasizes resilience and renewal, inviting viewers to witness the delicate balance between destruction and creation in his evocative work. In contrast, the second space features Anghel's more renowned works, crafted from materials like stone, wood, copper, leather, and fabrics. This duality highlights his mastery of honest, natural processes while offering a rich dialogue between destruction and refined craftsmanship.
Mircea Anghel, an internationally acclaimed artist and designer, embraces the inherent beauty of natural processes in his practice. Anghel salvages materials or responsibly sources them, imbuing his works with already captivating narratives. He then crafts them by hand, creating a strong contrast between the natural and human element. Having made a remarkable transition from a career as a hedge fund broker, he now finds inspiration near his home in the serene landscapes of Herdade da Barrosinha, nestled in the picturesque Alentejo region of Portugal.
