In Hale is a monumental coffee table consisting of a massive piece of marble that floats on a metal cushion.

Ben Storms developed the idea for this table while looking at a piece of marble that was considered to be a leftover. By inflating sheet metal, he creates a three-dimensional cushion for the precious marble, which feels like it defies gravity. The pieces of marble, carefully selected in quarries all over Europe, are left to show their natural beauty, only polished where needed but kept rough and unpolished on the lower side.

Variations can be custom made.

About the artist

Ben Storms is a Belgian designer and craftsman who thinks in terms of materials. By using state-of-the-art techniques he transforms them to captivating shapes that defy expectations.
Storms equally masters thinking and making. He has refined his craft as a stonemason, sculptor and woodworker. In his practice, he often combines traditional techniques with high-tech processes to create unique pieces of furniture with a sculptural character.
