Designed by Ben Storms
It may seem surprising, but as the name suggests, this design technique is indeed related to fashion. Just as with clothing, the components that determine the final shape of the table were crafted and designed separately in advance to ensure that every fold and curve of the surfaces could be carefully prepared and ultimately composed.
Although visually similar to the Crushed series, the outcome here is easier to predict and allows for the precise realisation of a preconceived vision.
However, it’s not just about the shape and use of patterns. The design also seeks to echo high-end couture by treating no detail as incidental.
While the exteriors - the aspects of the piece that are immediately visible - are covered in Giallo Siena veneer, which occasionally cracks and fragments in response to the underlying surface, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship, even the less visible components are
finished with the utmost care. Like a suit with a carefully crafted lining, the underside of the tabletop and the insides of the legs are finished in meticulously polished brass, glowing warmly.
