Designed by Lukas Cober
Through a conversation of raw materiality and distinctive shapes the New Wave collection illustrates the designers fascination for oceans force. To build the collection Lukas Cober uses fibreglass cloth chosen for its beautiful raw aesthetics and transforms this industrial reinforcement material into sculptural objects. The pieces are build by hand-layering numerous layers of fibreglass cloth with resin into desired shapes. After combining the shapes and removing material for smooth transitions and organic contours, the layers of fibreglass unfold in rhythmic lines and the shapes reveal themselves drawn as silhouettes against the surface.
Based originally on the New Wave collection made from fibreglass the Liquid edition is a blown up version of the design with a different materiality. It is build in thick solid resin which is being casted to a rough model and then freehand sculpted to the defined shape and polished to a mirror finish.
Each piece is freehand shaped. Therefore each object can slightly differ in details and will be an individual piece on its own. The Resin is polished to mirror finish and is fully transparent. Depending on the light direction and point of view the material can show a slight purple to greenish hue. Being exposed to sunlight / UV the colour can change over time.
