Sungho Cho

Sungho Cho is a time traveler who chases memory and analchemist who reanimates it into metallic objects.  The thin surface is transformed into a deep layering wheretime, space, humanity, and earth meld together.

What is a vessel? A vessel is often a quotidian object that holds our food or other daily objects in its empty space, but at times, like the moon jar, it can also become a cultural symbol that interacts with our spirit. All objects with artistic and spatial characteristics have practical applications but gain new vitality when connected to spirituality. Vessels have long been used as metaphors conveying deep meanings in literature and poetry.

They symbolize the human body and powerful metaphors of love, loss, and longing. The arc of the question posed by one of Sungho Cho’s small silver vessels is wide and deep. The surface created by dots, lines, and irregularities is not simply decoration but the crystallization of the artist’s inner self, history, nature, and thoughts on memory.

The thin surface is transformed into a deep layering wheretime, space, humanity, and earth meld together

As a collector of time, an alchemist who handles metals, and a storyteller who tells narratives, Sungho Cho’s vessels traverse the time and space of our lives like a ship sailing the sea.
