The "Duramen" is the inner part of the wood and corresponds to the oldest growth areas of the tree. Its heart, hard as steel, is the tree's memory, and it is this material, often centuries old, that is used to make the "Duramen" sculptures. Hand-carved solid wood with a waxed finish, topped with a textured, patinated, and waxed brass top.
