“My road into textile art/design started a few years ago, with a sudden, but very strong longing. I only realised after, that the intense longing for making something physically soft was tied to the longing for a more empathic and emotional environment.
The tactility felt like a counterpart to our digital lives. And the organic shapes, craftsmanship and design based on intuition aims to create soft, safe spaces in times of uncertainty. I wanted to create a bond, and give that connection life in every piece, a lasting alternative to overconsumption and mass production”
Using a mix of traditional tufting techniques with 3D embroidery, these landscapes and figures, crafted out of leftover material, are abstract memories of nature, and our guardian angels and selves. The memories were made thinking of our new digital habitats, that we create as we change and demolish our original landscapes. A glimpse of a lighter world. And a hopefulness of new beginnings and excitement for what is to come.
