In ARCUS we see reverberations of architectural fragments of the past. Tim filters ornaments from old buildings and takes them out of proportion. We could say that the results disproportionate peristyls. Columns and arches are not the only ancient shapes Tim plays with in this collection. Through a rhythmic alternation of kops and longwoods, he creates a trompe-l'oeil in the top of his furniture.
About the artist
Tim Vranken is a Belgian furniture designer who focuses on solid, handmade furniture. Throughout his designs the use of pure materials and honest natural processes are paramount. The result is an unconcealed interplay of lines and shapes, without the slightest frills. To make sure the furniture meets up to all of his ideas, Tim builds every piece himself.
