A really good sculptural dining chair is an exacting challenge to create. There is a high performance criteria for the intended usage.

Where to start?

A dining chair is not a static object and it is generally part of a grouping of multiples working in unison with a larger flat surfaced structure. The silhouette forms should be strong with a subtle sense of dynamism without upstaging or hindering the view to the table they are pulled up to.

The chair starts with the person, sitter, occupant - together with the form they become the piece that elevates the conversation and magnificence of the table. The seated experience is comfortable, poised, elegant.

The form of course remains - a fluid, organic exercise in understated elegance. The space between things fills the whole experience.
